Mandi was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the oldest of 6 children. At the age of 17, she began working with children at church, teaching Sunday school, working in the AWANA program, and directing the children’s Christmas play. She attended Oklahoma State University, receiving her BS in Elementary Education and eventually her MS in Teaching Reading and Literacy. She taught as a public school teacher for 5 years, teaching 6th grade English/Language Arts, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. Though working with students is her passion, she also loves learning. While teaching, she missed being a student herself. Therefore, in August 2023, she drove to Billings, Montana, to attend Montana Bible College and grow deeper in her relationship with God. It was there her life completely changed. While a student herself at MBC, Mandi began tutoring students with writing. This led to a position as a writing tutor due to her writing professor’s recommendation. Before the Fall semester was completed, she was also offered a position to teach a college course for the Spring semester! Through this experience, she realized how much she enjoyed working with college students. They needed encouragement and writing advice that she could give to them. It was beyond incredible to see God using her in the place He had led her. MBC suddenly became more than a 1-year adventure, and she decided to remain in Billings. She currently teaches Effective Written Communication for MBC and 2nd grade at Billings Christian School. In her free time, she is usually writing something. She loves writing poetry and stories for her blog and hopes to finish her novel one day! She also enjoys reading, drawing, painting, and attending concerts and theatre performances.
