Starting in September and ending in November, Montana Bible College had the privilege of hosting a three-part series of lectures focused on Christian Nationalism, a topic generating significant dialogue in today’s culture.
The lectures were held once each month as part of MBC’s weekly Forum for students. They were open to the public, so students and community members alike benefitted from hearing and weighing differing viewpoints on the topic.
Dr. Jay Smith, a Christian evangelist most known for debating Muslims using polemics and apologetics, opened the series with an introduction to “The Question of Christian Nationalism.”
Dr. Stephen Wolfe, author of “The Case for Christian Nationalism” and one of the leading—and most controversial—proponents for creating a nation whose laws and customs defend Christian ideals, presented his viewpoint in the second lecture, drawing dozens of community members from around the area.
Dr. Brian Mattson, Senior Scholar of Public Theology for the Center for Cultural Leadership and a Montana native, rounded out the series with “The Case Against Christian Nationalism” and a thoroughly researched, Biblically-based rebuttal on Wolfe’s arguments.
The series was intellectually “heady” and theologically rounded, presenting a robust scholarly experience for all in attendance. Montana Bible College looks forward to regularly hosting lectures and series that are relevant, thought-provoking, and impactful for its students and the community at large.
